Women In Politics and Government (WINPOGOV) is a women leadership and empowerment initiative of the Alpha Institute, a non government organisation whose main focus is to research into and proffer solutions to challenges of leadership in key sectors in Africa as a means of promoting socio-economic development of the Continent.

The initiative is in furtherance of the institutes commitment to positively impact and transform the future of leadership and governance in Africa and beyond.

VISION
To provide a platform for the enhancement of women’s full participation in politics and governance in Nigeria.

MISSION
i. To develop an action plan for the promotion of women’s participation in politics and governance.
ii. To train, assist and build the capacities of women who are involved in government on advocacy and action in the promotion, protection and advancement of women’s rights at the national level.
iii. To ensure an accelerated realization on women’s rights especially the process of ensuring women’s equal participation in politics and government in Nigeria.
iv. To promote and harmonize efforts in facilitating Nigerian women’s participation in government and politics.
v. To provide a veritable platform for women are in or who aspire to go into politics and government in Nigeria to network and achieve their goals.
vi. To document and adopt global best practices and strategies that can support women’s full participation in Nigerian politics and government.
vii. To project women as a viable resource for development in Nigeria and Africa.
viii. And to do all as may be necessary to achieve these objects or objects that may present themselves at a future time pertaining to the women by establishing viable national and regional organization with socially accountable reporting networks.
ix. To reward excellence in service for outstanding women in politics and government.
